Celebrating its 5th anniversary since reconfiguring due to COVID-19, this forum has become a vital platform for the digital development community to address challenges, discuss solutions, and forge partnerships that drive innovation. The 2024 edition, a two-day hybrid event, featured both virtual and in-person components, engaging a global audience and local communities in cities worldwide, including Washington, DC, Chișinău, Moldova, and Bangkok, Thailand.

Goals and Objectives

The key objectives for the GDDF 2024 were:

The Shane Group's Role

Venue Selection and Space Planning

The Shane Group was instrumental in selecting venues in Washington DC and in Chișinău, Moldova that support both the technical and logistical needs of the hybrid event.  This involved meticulous planning to ensure that each location was equipped with the necessary infrastructure to handle both in-person and virtual components.

Technical Infrastructure

We ensured robust technical support for both virtual and in-person components. Working closely with an international team, the Shane Group assisted in the smooth transitions between different formats and seamless integration of in-person events in Moldova, Senegal, and Thailand into the online event and the Washington, DC events.

Adaptability and Problem-Solving

Our team was prepared for last-minute changes, such as schedule adjustments or technical issues, to maintain the event’s flow and quality. We were on standby to address any unexpected challenges, ensuring a smooth experience for all participants.

Navigating a Critical AV and Technical Situation

Two weeks before the event, a critical audio-visual and technical issue was discovered at the Washington, DC location. The Shane Group quickly assembled a team of experts to assess the situation. Our swift response and expert navigation involved:

• Conducting a comprehensive audit of the AV and technical systems.

• Collaborating with local AV providers to upgrade and secure backup systems.

• Implementing a testing schedule to ensure all systems were fully operational.

This proactive approach ensured that the technical integrity of the Washington, DC event was maintained, allowing the forum to proceed without any disruptions.
